Hi Everyone
New to this board, hoping someone can help please.
I'm desperately looking for the death of a George BOAM (Bome, Boham, Botham, Baum, whatever).
This George Boam was baptised in 1731 at Elton Dby, son of George Boam & Margaret Elliott. He married a Mary someone about 1758 and they had 8 children baptised at Elton (near Winster).
On the Wirksworth www.wirksworth.org.uk/INC-085.htm#087d website there is a Boam tree drawn up by Thomas Norris Ince that says the following for this George:-
"George BOAM of Elton miner bap at Elton burd at ... near Burton"
unfortunately it doesn't give a date or full place of burial so now I'm looking for any place with the word 'Burton' in it, Burton upon Trent seems like a good one .
I've traced a Thomas Boam born about 1770 who married in Stapenhill in 1791 and was buried in Swadlincote (I think) in 1840, his age at death was 70. This Thomas named his first two children (that I can find) Mary & George so it seems likely he might be the son of a George & Mary doesn't it?
George had a son named Thomas bap at Elton in 1771 so now I'm trying to link these two Thomas' together.
George & Mary also had two sons, Richard & George, who were in Mansfield, Notts at some stage, around the 1831 mark according to Thomas Norris Ince's tree. Richard married a second time in Mansfield in 1809 but was buried at Elton in 1833. George (son) I can find nothing on except for his baptism in Elton in 1773 and in 1832 there is a George Boam living in Elton.
Anyone have any of these Boams in their tree somewhere? Would love to hear from you.
Cheers....Dawn
