I've been using this great site for years but have only just noticed the forum! I'm descended from Fletcher Fletcher (b Swadlincote c1810) who lived in Newhall. I know his father was John Fletcher and think his mother was Hannah Dawes, daughter of John Daws/Dawes and Amy Fitchett. I have a marriage for a John Fletcher to Hannah Dawes in 1807, but as I don't have a baptism for Fletcher Fletcher I can't be 100% sure!
Hannah had a daughter, Mary (1800) who in turn had a daughter Elizabeth (1822). I believe Mary married Henry Staley in 1825 and Elizabeth married Chase Chapman in 1841. I'd love to hear from anyone who has a connection with these names- especially if they've had or are thinking of having their DNA tested.

Hi Helen, and apologies for a late reply. Not too late, I hope.
I have quite an extensive Dawes connection which goes back to John and Amy - 5th Great Grandparents on my mother's side. I can see a marriage in Church Gresley for Hannah Dawes and John Fletcher in 1807, but not sure if this is OK. Hannah (Spinster) was bpptised in 1769, so that would make her age nearly 40. I do note that John Fletcher is listed as a widower though.
Are you on Ancestry? If so, my user name is HilaryArmstrong (no space). Catch up with me there?
Best wishes Hilary
