Hi everyone. I have just been introduced to this site thanks to one of your members.
I am researching my family tree with particular reference to the surname Thornley. The family appear to have originated in the Newhall/Stanton area near Burton on Trent. I know there are some relatives buried in St. John's Church Newhall but I think also there are some in St. Peter's Church Burton on Trent. I believe the family lived at Stanton Hall for many years and may well have had mining interests.
Any help anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated. My maiden name was Thornley.
Valerie

I saw your post by simply googling the Thornley surname. I have Thornleys in my family tree that left Derbyshire around 1846 and arrived to Philadelphia, PA (USA). The daughter in this branch of mine would become my great x4 grandmother Anna Maria Thornley (also listed Hanora in some census records). She was born in Derbyshire in 1836. Her father was William Thornley (b. circa 1789) and her mother was Sarah (maiden name unknown, b. circa 1806). William was a coffee roaster, I have found in one census record. If these members happen to be anywhere in your own family tree, feel free to let me know.
